How to read this board
Bars share one scale within the displayed rows. Net = long − short. Rank uses up to 155 earlier reports, with ties given their midpoint rank. The chart includes up to 156 reports ending on the selected date; missing weeks break the line. Spreading positions are listed separately and excluded from net positions.
CFTC does not report a separate spreading figure for producers and merchants. It is shown as —, rather than zero.
About these figures
WTI and Brent are EIA daily FOB spot series in USD per barrel. U.S. commercial crude inventories exclude the Strategic Petroleum Reserve; EIA reports thousands of barrels, divided by 1,000 here to show millions. The data service checks sources about every six hours. Reloading this page reads saved data and does not request a new EIA release.
Changes compare the previous available observation with the displayed date. Gaps can span more than one day or week; use the stated comparison dates. A price spread is shown only for a shared observation date.
