How the distribution is calculated

The starting positions have no assigned price. Later increases are placed at the closest ECB reference on or before the report date, no more than five calendar days earlier. Only consecutive seven-day reports qualify.

When a reported balance falls, every price band and the unassigned amount on that side shrink in the same proportion. Actual entry prices and which positions remained are unknown.

The period labels are approximate. Each option uses 13, 26 or 52 report-to-report changes; the exact dates appear above. Changing the period changes the unassigned starting balance. Latest and previous views share that starting balance. Past reports include revisions available when downloaded, so they do not reproduce what was known at the time.

What this chart leaves out

The charted share does not indicate how closely the distribution matches actual entry prices.

Source totals are futures contracts. Charted values are illustrative contract equivalents, not FX lots or fractional contracts.

TFF long and short fields exclude spreading. Changes may reflect spread composition, participant reclassification or data corrections, rather than new trades or closed positions.

Data sources

ECB reference rates and CFTC position reports are available free from their sources. Currency conversion and the illustrative price distribution are calculated by this site. No actual entry-price data is used.
